March for Life

This past Thursday, Sister Lauren Trinh, our beloved Benedictine Sister, led her Pro-Life Students to the March for Life in Washigton D.C. At the stroke of midnight on the evening before, they gathered at St. Walburga's Monastery to join our Benedictine Brothers of St. Benedict's Prep .
As Catholics, we believe every human being from the moment of conception to the moment of our last breath has a right to live and not be killed by another human being. Every human being has inherent dignity and intrinsic value. This belief is also upheld by article 2 of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "No one, especially the unborn, shall be arbitrarily deprived of his/her life."
God's Choice is Life because He created us in His image and likeness out of love! How beautiful is God's precious gift of life.

We have a New President!

On this 200th celebration of the Gettysburg Address, our school community gathered as one family to listen to President Barack Obama proclaim once again that “this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom.” On this momentous occassion, Barack Obama placed his hand on the same Holy Bible that President Lincoln placed his hand on during his official oath of office of the Constitution of the United States. And he, like President George Washington and so many other presidents before him, prayed aloud, “So Help me God”.

It was a true day of celebration and joy as our Benedictine Academy Student Council began the day with an Inaugural Breakfast for our students and staff. Later in the morning, our African American Club called our community together to honor the Most Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in song and speech. The students were most inspiring as they shared both Martin Luther King's
"I have a Dream" and their own dreams for our nation.

May God Bless President Barack Obama and the United States of America. Amen
